DIVISIONAL COURT RULING ON THE APPLICATION OF PAMELA DUGGAN AND HER MAJESTY'S ASSISTANT DEPUTY CORONER
CLAIM FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW DISMISSED
Judgment in the claim for judicial review into the inquest of Mark Duggan was handed down at 10.30am today. The hearing took place in July 2014.
Speaking on behalf of Pamela Duggan, solicitor Marcia Willis Stewart said:
“I am unable to be at the High Court today. My client, Mark's mother, Pamela Duggan, has nevertheless asked me say on her behalf that she is extremely disappointed at the judgment that has just been handed down.
She remains deeply distressed about the death of her son and the circumstances in which it occurred and has instructed the legal team to lodge an appeal. To this end the application may be made before the court today.
As there is another matter related to the death of Mark Duggan being heard in the Court of Appeal today and tomorrow, which is the case in relation to ‘conferring’, it would not be appropriate for me to comment any further at this stage.”
There will be press conference with Carol Duggan at 11.30am at:
North London Community House
Moorefield Road
N17 6PY
The family is represented by INQUEST Lawyers Group members Marcia Willis Stewart and Cyrilia Davies from Birnberg Peirce solicitors and barristers Michael Mansfield QC of Mansfield Chambers, Leslie Thomas of Garden Court Chambers and Adam Straw of Doughty Street Chambers.
