The inquest into the death of Mark Duggan was formally opened and adjourned earlier today by HM Coroner Andrew Walker at Barnet Coroner’s Court.

The family made the following statement:

We have come to the opening of the inquest today and the investigation is ongoing. We want to establish the truth about Mark’s death. The family want everyone to know that the disorder going in has nothing to do with finding out what happened to Mark. They also want everyone to know that they are deeply distressed by the disorder affecting so many communities across the country.

The family ask that their privacy is respected at this distressing time and they will be making no further comment at this point.
