Miranda Stevenson was 42 years old when she died in a cell at Guildford Police Station, Surrey on 1 June 2015. The inquest into her death opens on Monday 3 February.
Miranda had been in police custody since the early hours of 30 May 2015. She had required hospital treatment after becoming unwell and was discharged from hospital back into police custody in the afternoon of 30 May. She was later found dead in the police cell at 7.25am on 1 June 2015.
Miranda is described by her mother as a loving and kind daughter, sister and mother. She was living in Guildford at the time of her death.
The inquest will hear evidence on the following issues:
- The treatment and assessment of vulnerable persons while in police custody.
- The monitoring and observation procedures in police custody.
- Communication between the healthcare are services and police regarding individuals who have had medical treatment while in police custody.
