The family of Roger Sylvester who died in Metropolitan Police Custody in January 1999 is to meet
the Home Secretary Jack Straw on Thursday 22 March at 3.30pm at the Home Office. They will be
raising their concerns about Roger’s death and the police investigation and the way families are
treated following a death in police custody. They will present him with a letter requesting that
specific action be taken in a number of areas.
Members of his family will attend with MPs David Lammy and Jeremy Corbyn, and Deborah Coles
from INQUEST. At the conclusion of the meeting the family will be available for interview outside
the Home Office.
