Over the last few years, INQUEST has put on three exhibitions in London and Scotland. Through photography, sculpture and archives, they have explored the true impact of state violence and neglect, alongside family resistance that refuses to be silenced, misrepresented or forgotten.
By taking a collaborative approach across all our artistic projects, we have created alternative ways for bereaved families and friends to engage with INQUEST. For many, the process of stepping away from headlines, statistics, courtrooms and channelling pain and grief into art is cathartic.
Exhibitions offer a way to bring new audiences to the issues we care about – state violence, neglect, discrimination, impunity – and have the power to generate empathy over judgement. Our hope is to secure specific funding to continue developing this work that uses to art to galvanise action over apathy.
