In 2025, BÉZNĂ Theatre, became INQUEST’s first ever artists in residence. In this three-month residency, Sînziana Cojocărescu (Artistic Director) and Claire Gilbert (Producer) developed an artistic response to INQUEST’s archive and ran three workshops with bereaved families.
The final installation, Preventable, brought the archive to life through documents and audio recordings, tracing the threads that connect state violence, loss, and the long pursuit of justice. At the centre of the installation was a flower sculpture that visitors were invited to contribute to. As bouquets dried and decayed over the course of the installation, the perfume intensified.
The installation at SCRUM Studios Warehouse in Hammersmith (9-17 December 2025), included a programme of events including panel discussions, a film screening and apothecary workshop.
Contributors: Susan Alexander, Jude Black, Prosper Kaba, Helen Lumuanganu, Anna Rose, Nadine Smith and those who wished to remain anonymous contributed through a range of workshops in October 2025.
